I hope you enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELIVING YOU<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\npallor pale, cold,<br \/>\nrough skin pocked,<br \/>\npain blackened eyes,<br \/>\nnails bit to the root.<\/p>\n<p>I recount details,<br \/>\nmarks noted hatefully,<br \/>\nminor feelings enlarged<br \/>\nto sizes meaningful.<\/p>\n<p>This is when I see you<br \/>\nfor who you really are<br \/>\njust an ogre with a smile<br \/>\nand a cavernous heart.<\/p>\n<p>I need your brand of pain<br \/>\nit consumes me like a drug<br \/>\nyou see, the junkie heart inside me<br \/>\nthrives on callous blood.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KEEP HOPE A LIE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Promise me,<br \/>\npeeled, painted fences<br \/>\nand over-grown grasses<br \/>\ncalling for a cutting,<br \/>\nsunshine rich enough to burn,<br \/>\ncalm waking moments<br \/>\nlacking fear of touching.<\/p>\n<p>lie to me,<br \/>\ntell me stories<br \/>\nabout our life to come<br \/>\nwhen we can muse about forever<br \/>\nwithout embarrassing fragile Truth<br \/>\nor twisting unbending Fact.<\/p>\n<p>and let me listen without doubt<br \/>\nor skeptical logic<br \/>\nabout a created world<br \/>\nfull of fictitious beauty.<\/p>\n<p>I want to live in a world<br \/>\nwhere truth grows to change<br \/>\nwith each passing season<br \/>\nand fear is crushed by<br \/>\nslight, calming breezes.<\/p>\n<p>The passive sound of falsehood<br \/>\nwill ring glorious in my ears,<br \/>\nyour voice will soothe my doubts<br \/>\nand hope will reach my touch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALLEGRA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fear clasps my shoulders<br \/>\nthen twists into anger<br \/>\nwith reckless endangerment<br \/>\nbut it&#8217;s alright with me.<\/p>\n<p>my heart pounds<br \/>\nlike the broken engine mounts<br \/>\nunder the hood of our<br \/>\nnot too long for the road car.<\/p>\n<p>crossing Montana, endlessly<br \/>\ntwo lanes stretch out before us<br \/>\nas we make a break for destinations<br \/>\nhidden from Denver&#8217;s responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>you and I have mind alike<br \/>\nmissing parts and filled with<br \/>\njust a few too many thoughts<br \/>\nbut it&#8217;s alright with you.<\/p>\n<p>we&#8217;ve gone far<br \/>\nand not far enough<br \/>\nto stop and fix this car.<\/p>\n<p>the horizon pulls us on<br \/>\nto thunder storms, complete<br \/>\nwhere electric atmosphere<br \/>\ncollapses panicked thoughts<br \/>\nwhile your hand falls into mine,<br \/>\nfinally.<\/p>\n<p>Justin Dixon<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three poems all written within the last few months, in no specific order.
